Helping OPN Buildings to scale their business with a pertinent brand identity and refined product design
Before OPN Buildings was coined, Remote HVAC was building a new platform for their innovative product, monitoring HVAC and building performance. I was brought in as a UI/UX designer to bring the product design forward and define the user flows.
As the product was already in use by estates and universities around Ireland. We were to build onto of certain elements, bringing in better colour coordination while challenging the UX structures so we could find better solutions while giving the product a clean sweep with the interface design.
The whole project was built in an iterative manner, building on top of a product already in use meant everything was organised by priority as per the teams needs. As Remote HVAC’s was built for desktop use cases - this meant the mobile version was looked at last. It also meant the design system was iterative and flexible, landing on a small but considered reference to build on top of. User experience and client happiness was at the forefront throughout the whole process.
As Remote HVAC expanded, so too did their capabilities - and in 2021, this need to differentiate meant that OPNBuilding was formed. Now offering HVAC, Energy and Occupancy monitoring - the team approached me to help with this transition. Providing a creative brief outlining the need for one hero brand and three sub-brands. From this we created a colour scheme to reflect the products and the different logomarks.
At present, we are working together on brand strategy an outbound marketing campaign. Allowing the OPN team to branch out, focus on sales and expand their clientele. Overall, working with the team has been very rewarding. They align perfecting with the studios mission to help the climate tech industry prosper. It has been very encouraging to see how OPNBuildings is helping estate managers reduce their overall carbon footprint. Providing data on how to be energy optimised, hit climate goals and save money in the process is incredible.
